Every March, the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters holds a luncheon to recognize the accomplishments of broadcast students all around the state. For most, this is an opportunity to network with potential future employers at the job fair held just before the ceremony. For me this was a chance to observe the state of Indiana’s broadcasting industry. And it is… pretty disappointing. But that’s not the point, what I did enjoy is the award I won in the category of Video Sound Design.
My submission was a project I did for my Advanced Audio Design class at the University of Southern Indiana. Like most of my college projects, I waited until last minute, so… I ended up doing it all in one night. You can probably tell by watching. You’ll notice all the voices seem kinda similar. That’s because more than half of the characters were voiced by me, the other three were done by my younger brother. It’s not entirely wrong to assume this caused my grade suffer (I got a C).
Oddly, enough it was better than every other student in the class, because the two best videos were submitted to the competition, the other student didn’t even place at the competition.
Nevertheless, I got second place for procrastination. What can I say, it’s what I do.
